It was another great year for Proctor Arts Fest! I’ve been volunteering my time & talent on this pet project of mine for the past five and a half years. It’s a wonderful way to build relationships that strengthen our community.
The day before the event, we got to wear our ‘Bob The Builder’ safety vests, as we dodged cars to mark the streets for our stages and vendor booths.
The day of the event, we got there at 5am to close the streets and position the stages. At 6:30am the vendors started rolling in. We had a steady stream of visitors from 10:30am until 3:30ish, when it got pretty hot.
We’ve managed to grow this event each year with a small, dedicated group of volunteers. It really is a labor of love. We devote hundreds of hours each year to pull this event off.
The payoff for us is doing our part to create a space that supports the arts, the artists, the local businesses and the community.
